Are Luggage Trolleys Free at Heathrow?

Introduction

Navigating through Heathrow Airport can be overwhelming, particularly for travellers with multiple bags. One of the most common questions asked by passengers is whether luggage trolleys are free to use. This article delves into the details of luggage trolley availability and costs at Heathrow Airport, ensuring you are well-prepared for your journey.

Are Luggage Trolleys Free at Heathrow?

Luggage trolleys are not free at Heathrow Airport. Passengers are required to pay a small fee to use them. The cost is typically around £5, which can be paid via coins or card at the trolley collection points located throughout the airport. This fee helps to maintain and service the trolleys, ensuring they are in good condition for all users.

Where Can You Find Trolleys?

Trolleys are conveniently located at various points across the airport, including:

- Terminal Arrivals: As you exit customs, you will find trolleys available for your convenience.

- Terminal Departures: Trolleys can be found near check-in areas, making it easier for you to transport your luggage.

- Car Parks: If you are picking someone up or dropping off luggage, trolleys are available in the car parks.

Refund Policy

If you find yourself with a trolley that you no longer need, you can return it to a designated trolley collection point. Upon returning the trolley, you can retrieve your deposit, which is typically £1. This system encourages the return of trolleys to their rightful places, helping to keep the airport organised.

Alternatives to Luggage Trolleys

For those who prefer not to pay for a trolley, there are several alternatives:

- Luggage Carts: Some airlines and hotel services offer complimentary luggage carts for their passengers.

- Personal Trolleys: Investing in a personal luggage trolley can also be a practical solution, especially if you frequently travel.

- Porter Services: Heathrow offers porter services that can assist you with your luggage. While this service comes at a cost, it may provide a more convenient option if you are travelling with heavy or numerous bags.
