Can Families Skip Queues at Heathrow?

Introduction

Heathrow Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, welcoming millions of passengers each year. For families travelling with children, the thought of long queues can be intimidating. Fortunately, there are options available that may allow families to skip queues or at least minimise waiting times. In this blog post, we will delve into the ways families can make their travel experience at Heathrow more enjoyable and efficient.

Priority Services at Heathrow

Heathrow offers several priority services aimed at reducing wait times for passengers. Families can take advantage of these services:

Fast Track Security

One of the most popular options for families is the Fast Track Security service. This allows families to bypass the standard security queues, making the process quicker and less stressful. It is advisable to book this service in advance, especially during peak travel times.

Premium Check-In

Another option worth considering is the premium check-in service. Families can check in at dedicated counters, which often have shorter queues compared to the standard check-in areas. This service can be particularly beneficial for families travelling with infants or young children, as it allows them to settle in without the hassle of long waits.

Family-Friendly Facilities

Heathrow is equipped with a range of family-friendly facilities that can enhance your travel experience. Here are some highlights:

Play Areas

Heathrow has dedicated play areas located in various terminals. These areas are designed to keep children entertained while waiting for flights, providing a welcome break for parents. Children can enjoy interactive games and toys, making the airport experience much more pleasant.

Family Assistance

If you require additional help navigating the airport, families can request assistance from staff. This includes help with luggage, navigating to gates, or even accessing priority services. It’s a good idea to inform the airline of your needs in advance so they can provide the necessary support.

Tips for Smooth Travel with Kids

To ensure a seamless journey through Heathrow, consider the following tips:

Plan Ahead

Before travelling, research the airport layout and the location of your airline’s terminal. Familiarise yourself with the available services and consider booking Fast Track and premium check-in services in advance.

Arrive Early

Arriving early can significantly reduce stress levels. Give yourself plenty of time to check in, pass through security, and reach your gate without rushing.
