Do London Hotels Store Luggage Free?

Introduction

When visiting London, one of the most common concerns for travellers is what to do with their luggage before check-in or after check-out. Many hotels in the city offer luggage storage services, but the policies can vary widely, especially when it comes to charges. In this blog, we will delve into the question: do London hotels store luggage free?

The General Policy on Luggage Storage

Most hotels in London understand that guests may arrive early or leave late, which is why many offer luggage storage options. However, the availability of free luggage storage typically depends on the hotel's policies.

Free Luggage Storage

Some hotels provide complimentary luggage storage for their guests. This service is generally offered to those who have checked in or are about to check in, allowing you to explore the city without your bags weighing you down. Hotels that offer this service usually store your luggage in a secure area, ensuring its safety until you return.

Paid Luggage Storage

On the other hand, certain establishments may charge a fee for luggage storage, especially if you are not a registered guest. This can be a flat rate or charged per hour. It’s advisable to check with the hotel beforehand to understand their specific policies.

What to Look for When Booking a Hotel

When searching for accommodation in London, consider the following factors regarding luggage storage:

- Check Hotel Policies: Read the hotel’s website or contact them directly to inquire about their luggage storage policies.

- Guest Reviews: Look for reviews on platforms like TripAdvisor or Google. Guests often share their experiences regarding luggage storage.

- Location: If you plan to explore the city after checking out, consider choosing a hotel that is conveniently located near major attractions or transport links.

Alternatives to Hotel Luggage Storage

If your hotel does not offer free luggage storage, or if you prefer other options, there are several alternatives:

1. Luggage Storage Services: Companies like LuggageHero or Bounce offer secure luggage storage in various locations across London. You can drop off your bags at designated spots for a fee.

2. Train Stations: Major train stations such as King's Cross and Paddington have left luggage facilities where you can store your bags for a few hours or even days.
